Found this book when I went to hear the author speak at Shepherd University It s a story of a typical young boys life Except that he is from a family in East Prussia with strong Christian values not typical of the area or the era The story tells how war touched his family, their time as refugees in Germany, their decision to emigrate to America, and how his life comes full circle back to Germany as an American soldier, and how his faith sustains him It s not especially well written the only reason that I didn t give it 5 stars , but it is compelling and it will stay with me.
